Legislation

TransForm takes positions on legislation that promotes world-class transit and walkable communities throughout California. Transform also occasionally sponsors bills that are focused on the Bay Area.  With the opening of TransForm's satellite Sacramento office in 2009 and the hiring of a state transportation advocate we anticipate playing more of a leadership role on state transportation issues.

In 2008 TransForm sponsored AB 2744 (Huffman). We plan to work with Assembly member Huffman to re-introduce this legislation authorizing the Bay Area to create a Transportation Fund for Climate Protection in the 2009-2010 legislative season.

TransForm supported one of the most significant pieces of transportation and land use planning in history SB 375 (Steinberg).  Huge kudos to the Natural Resources Defense Council and California League of Conservation Voters for their incredible work on this bill!

Other key bills TransForm supported this year include:

  • AB 444 (Motor Vehicle Registration Fees)
  • AB 1221 (Tax Increment Financing for Transit Villages)
  • AB 1358 (Complete Streets)
  • AB 2971 (Bike Pedestrian Developer Fees))
  • AB 3034 (Safe, Reliable High-Speed Passenger Train Bond Act for the 21st Century)
  • SB 1419 (Safety Double Fine Zone on 19th Avenue)
Look up these and other bills.
