Volunteer/Intern with TransForm
Be a part of transforming your community, the Bay Area, and California! We always need volunteers and interns for a range of projects.
Some of the internships can be adapted to be "professional reports" or other thesis-type work if you need academic credit. High school and college students are encouraged to inquire.

Special Projects
Event Photographer
Help us document the great work we're doing! We need a photographer to be present at TransForm events, such as our annual Summit and Walk to School Day. Ideally, these would be digital photos. You provide the talent and camera, we'll provide the occasion. Contact Andréa Tyler.
Ongoing Needs
Media Database Updates
TransForm has an extensive media database that lists reporters and editors that cover transportation and land use issues at newspaper, television, and radio stations throughout the Bay Area. We can use some help with updating this information to verify that the information is correct and up-to-date. This will involve making phone calls or sending emails to check whether reporters still work at the media outlet. Work can be done from TransForm's office or potentially from home. Weekdays is preferred but night or weekend work is possible. Contact Marta Lindsey.
Administrative Support
We can use help on a variety of tasks, from data entry in our contacts database to writing letters. Contact Andréa Tyler.
Walkable Communities
The Great Communities Collaborative is a joint effort by the region's leading nonprofits to ensure that half of all new homes built by 2030 are in walkable communities located near transit, at a range of prices affordable to families of all income levels.
Student Thesis Opportunities
The Collaborative has several student research opportunities for a professional report/master's thesis. Review the opportunities here. Contact Camille Guiriba.
Research and Analysis on Proposed TODs
Analyze proposed Specific Plans or development proposals to see whether they meet best practices for transit-oriented development. Research the characteristics of proposed TODs to facilitate using a traffic generation model to estimate the traffic impacts from TODs compared to sprawl developments. Assist in developing fact sheets to present results to city officials and the general public. Contact Camille Guiriba.
Alert Us to Plans In Your Area
Notify us about Station Area Plans that are already underway or coming soon, as well as large individual TOD projects in the works. Local advocates, we need your help. Contact Jeff Hobson.
Great Communities Toolkit
Research and write fact sheets on key issues related to transit-oriented development for the "Great Communities Toolkit." See www.greatcommunities.org for examples. Contact Ann Cheng.
Photographers
Visit transit-oriented developments around the region (or the country!) to take pictures. We want to expand our fledgling photo library of the good, bad, and the ugly. We are also looking for photographers to attend community meetings. For an excellent example of this type of photo library, see www.pedbikeimages.org. This could become a nationally-known resource. Contact Ann Cheng.
World-Class Public Transportation
Bus Rapid Transit in the East Bay
Document/build community awareness of the East Bay Bus Rapid Transit project. Opportunities include helping with: conducting outreach, documenting and building support for transportation planning projects and decision-making processes (particularly in Berkeley and Oakland). Contact Joel Ramos.
